Ofsted-registered supported accommodation

In one sentence

Supported accommodation for looked-after 16 and 17 year olds and care leavers, which must be registered with Ofsted since 28 October 2023.

Providers must meet four quality standards: leadership and management, protection, accommodation and support.

Running this accommodation without registration is an offence. Providers register for the type of accommodation they offer, such as single occupancy, shared accommodation or supported lodgings. Under the April 2026 licensing response, schemes for young people up to 25 with at least one Ofsted-regulated bed are exempt from supported housing licensing.
