About the tools

Are the supported housing tools free?

Yes. All three tools are free and run in your browser. You do not need an account, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to send your readiness check results to SEA Audit.

Is the exempt accommodation checker a legal decision?

No. It shows the category a scheme is most likely to fall into based on your answers, with the reasons. The council decides each Housing Benefit claim on its own facts and evidence.

What does the readiness check measure?

It scores eight areas that councils and licensing look at: structure and eligibility, needs assessment and planning, support records, safeguarding, property, rent and service charges, governance and staffing, and resident voice and outcomes.

Can I save my answers?

Readiness check answers are saved in your browser as you go, so you can come back to them on the same device. You can also print the results or save them as a PDF.
